Steve Jobs once said, “Nike sells a commodity, they sell shoes. And yet when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company... They honour great athletes and they honour great athletics. That is what they are about.” The popular sportswear brand has always created inspirational and awe-inspiring Ads and it has done it yet again. Nike India launched a new video song by Wieden + Kennedy India featuring many women athletes, including their brand ambassador Deepika Padukone, who is seen vigorously working out in the video, on July 11. With the upbeat ‘Da Da Ding’ track by Genera8ion, this video is peppy, motivational, and everything that can make a woman get out of her comfort zone and play a sport.
The brand which mainly focused on cricket in their earlier Indian campaigns has added some freshness to their new Ad that portrays only women athletes like Joshna Chinappa (Squash), Rani Rampal (Hockey), Harmanpreet Kaur (Cricket) Jyoti Ann Burrett (Football).
“When I was growing up my father said to me, "To be the best, always remember the three D's - Discipline, Dedication and Determination. Follow your heart. Do what you are passionate about."
Sport has taught me how to handle failure. It has also taught me how to handle success. It has kept me grounded. It has taught me humility.
Two years ago I struggled with depression. I was sinking. I almost gave up. But it was the athlete in me that gave me the strength to fight and never ever give up!
And so I want to say to every girl and every boy and every woman and every man...play a sport...because it changed my life...and it will change yours too!
Sport has taught me how to survive! It has taught me how to fight! It has made me unstoppable!
#JustDoIt,” posted Deepika on Facebook.
