Until a few years ago, not many Indian models made it to the International runway. Today Indian models are ruling the fashion world on an international platform. 19 year old British-Indian model Neelam Gill who hails from Coventry, England is making waves in the Fashion industry. In September 2014, she walked on the runway for the first time at the London Fashion Weekand Gill has gained fame on the internet by modelling for her first ever Burberry Prorsum campaign 2014.
Neelam Gill has been announced as the new face of L’Oreal Paris UK and in doing so has become the first British-Indian model to be chosen as the new face for one of the successful French cosmetic company.
The model posted a picture on instagram in which she is wearing a black slit gown and put a caption saying “I can't even believe I'm writing this right now, but I am INSANELY proud to announce I am the new face of L’Oreal Paris UK. Saying 'this is a dream come true' would be an understatement. I feel honoured to be working alongside such an influential company, especially being the first British Indian model! Growing up I felt left out & unrepresented knowing that nobody in mainstream media looked like me, and now I hope to change that ❤ THANK YOU to the whole @lorealmakeup team for believing in me #LorealPFW #Lorealista #LorealFAMILY”.
