USA Network officially announced that original ‘Suits’ cast member Meghan Markle is leaving the legal drama at the end of season 7.
USA and Universal Cable Productions, which co-produce Suits, released a statement Tuesday, one day after Markle and Prince Harry announced their engagement.
"Following the news of Meghan Markle's engagement to Prince Harry, the beloved Suits star will depart from USA's legal drama at the end of season seven, which returns to the network in early 2018. From all of us at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, we want to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement. Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her. We want to thank her for her undeniable passion and dedication to Suits, and we wish her the very best."
Meghan was one of the original cast members of the show (featured in 103 episodes thus far) since it first aired in June 2011. Markle revealed in her first interview with her fiancée on BBC that she’ll be quitting acting all together to focus on her duties as a British royal.
The seventh season of Suits will resume in 2018.
