Bursts of rich festive colour amidst classics in black and white stole the show at ‘Maybelline New York presents Masaba Gupta’ at Amazon India Fashion Week SS’17. The collection echoed the face of New York chic style accentuated by edgy make-up looks. The rhythm of the show reflected the upbeat cosmopolitan vibe of the Big Apple City and was heightened by the tunes of a live trumpet on the ramp.
Athiya Shetty, Maybelline New York brand ambassador walked the ramp at the fashion extravaganza wearing a high fashion cropped cape and flared pants with abstract prints, in a combination of black and gold. This outfit set off her off her vivid look which included a beautiful neon pink lip, and dashes in black liner over the eyes, highlighting her softly contoured face.
Masaba Gupta, the designer who brought the vision of New York to New Delhi alive said, “This collection is inspired by the Colour sensational Vivid Matte lipstick and represents the Maybelline girl who is bold, confident and always ready to experiment! We used striking, vivid colours in the garments to bring alive the spirit for the festive season. Athiya looked smouldering in a monochrome cropped cape and pants.”
Masaba’s creations delved into the world of sexy draped skirts, relaxed robes with flared pants, constructed pant-suits, bustiers, oversized silk shirts, cool knit sweater tops highlighted with pearls, sequins and vintage motifs.
Talking about being the showstopper for her favourite brand, Athiya Shetty said, “Walking for Maybelline at India Fashion Week has always been an exhilarating experience and this year's vivid theme really captured the essence of New York. The dynamic energy of the brand, the vibrant and vivid make-up, Masaba's uber-chic style collection full of confidence, panache and an inherent New York attitude, was fabulous. I absolutely loved it. It had all the ingredients that makes a woman step out, feel feminine and yet powerful – all values that allow a Maybelline girl to ‘Make it Happen’. Through the show we created a new expression of vivid looks for the festive season, and Masaba’s design aesthetic was incomparable, making the show a memorable one.”
Elton J Fernandez, official make-up artist for the brand, who created fabulous looks said, “Masaba and I chose to interpret New York with a whole new twist, which led us to create these never-seen-before beauty looks! We used dreadlocks in combination with vivid pink lips and eyes, we used dashes as a modern spinoff on the classic black liner and sculpted, clean but fresh summer skin. Mascara was indeed sensational!”
