Actors Lily James and Armie Hammer have been roped in to star in the new adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s 1938 gothic thriller Rebecca. James is set to play Mrs de Winter and Hammer will star as her husband, Maxim de Winter. The flick is a Netflix original production. Directing the screenplay by Jane Goldman is Ben Wheatley. The story follows a newly married lady who, when she stars living in her husband’s imposing family estate on a bleak English coast, realizes that she has to deal with the shadow if his dead first wife who is the mysterious Rebecca. Her legacy continues to haunt the huge mansion.
The film is to be produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, along with Nila Park, and it is expected to go into production in the spring of 2019. James’s most recent flick was Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and is all set to be seen in the untitled Danny Boyle movie. Hammer on the other hand with appear in On The Basis of Sex by Mimi Ledger, Hotel Mumbai by Anthony Maras, and Babak Anvari’s untitled forthcoming film.
