Leonardo DiCaprio met with Us President-elect Donald Trump at New York Trump Tower to talk about how jobs centring on preserving the environment can boost the economy.
The CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, Terry Tamminen, told The Associated Press, “Today, we presented the President-elect and his advisors with a framework — which LDF developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism — that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure. Our conversation focused on how create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation.”
DiCaprio also met with Trump’s 35-year-old daughter Ivanka and presented her with a DVD of ‘Before The Flood’ – a 90-minute documentary on climate change directed by Fisher Stevens. It stars Barack Obama, Ban Ki-Moon, Elon Musk and Pope Francis.
Donald Trump had previously called global warming a farce tweeting, “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.”
