The world’s most valuable brand, Apple, is working on an initiative to turn iPhones into a hub of medical information with a small start-up company Health Gorilla. The aim of this initiative is to make iPhones a one-stop-shop to access patient’s medical data within minutes.
Apple along with the leading online health care provider, Health Gorilla is collaborating with various hospitals, developers, and other major health care industries for providing access to clinical data such as detailed lab results and list of allergies on iPhones. Health Gorilla, primarily works to add diagnostic data by integrating hospitals and lab testing companies such as Quest, LabCorp and Imaging centers.
With this initiative Apple aims to bridge the gap between hospitals struggling to access patients vital data at the point of care. The ultimate goal is to provide access to iPhone users to store, review and share their individual medical information such as lab results, allergy lists, etc. By providing access to medical information, issues such as misdiagnosis and mistakes arising due to insufficient personal data can be resolved.
