Whether they’re on the red carpet or out on the street, celebrities always seem to look their best, and that usually means super-fit. So how can we, too, get that jaw-dropping body? We give you the lowdown on their fitness secrets, so you can take a cue and see if you can get the same results.
Jennifer Lopez – The fitness secret behind this singer-actress’s curvy yet toned body is her strict diet. To stay in shape, the 42-year-old mother-of-two drinks ice-cold water to speed up her metabolism, doesn’t have a single morsel of carbs after 4 pm and indulges in four small, protein-packed meals during the day. As well as being sensible with her diet, J-Lo also works out regularly and trains with her 25-year-old dancer-boyfriend Casper Smart. She is also up early in the morning and exercises for at least an hour, alternating her workout regime between core-strengthening routines and yoga. Or else she just takes a run on the beach.
Kate Beckinsale – The Total Recall star who underwent kickboxing training for months attributes her much-envied, curvy body to yoga. Kate chooses wholesome meals and adds a lot of fresh foods to her daily diet. She is even known to drag her director-husband Len Wiseman on hikes with her. At 39, this actress, who can give women half her age a run for their money, stays fit with a lot of running and at-home workouts to avoid the monotony.
Gwyneth Paltrow – This Oscar-winning actress has taken to an organic diet which she combines plenty of sleep and water to flush out all the harmful toxins. She says a strict ‘no’ to red meat and processed foods, but she does indulge in junk food once in a while. But you should know that she makes up for that by exercising harder. Exercise is the key to her fitness, and her daily workouts include cardio and strength training.
Jennifer Aniston – At 43, Jennifer Aniston has a figure that even Hollywood starlets would envy. The secret behind her long, lean muscles and glowing skin is really no secret at all – it’s good old-fashioned hard work. She works out at least 5-6 times a week. Her fitness regimen includes 40 minutes of cardio - spinning, running, elliptical training, or a combination of all these. Jen’s week also includes one day of pilates. She does yoga three times a day. Though she doesn’t shy away from indulging in her favourite foods once in a while (including high-calorie Mexican food!), she claims not to cheat on her workouts. Her diet includes plenty of seafood like salmon, lentils, fresh green vegetables and quinoa.
Jessica Alba – Not many expected Jessica Alba to be beach-ready just a few months after welcoming her second child. But here she is, looking fitter and more toned than ever! So, how does she do it? With an intense exercise regimen and a controlled diet. To stay in shape, Jessica includes lean meats (which are rich in protein), low-fat cheese, whole grains, and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in her daily diet. Keen on intense workouts, the 31-year-old combines high-intensity cardio with strength training, which she alternates with swimming, yoga and running on the treadmill at home.
Beyonce Knowles – The ‘bootylicious’ singer is back in shape just months after the birth of her baby Blue Ivy. Voted the ‘Most Beautiful Woman in the World’, Beyonce is known to be a hard taskmaster when it comes to her workout routine. She trains with her personal fitness instructor at least five days in a week. Her routine includes cardio and plyometric moves such as lunges, squats and step-ups, but she always listens to her favourite music tracks to liven things up. Sounds too easy? Beyonce is known to do 100 reps of each! She also does bicep curls and kickboxing to maintain her fit and curvy body.
