Homer And Marge Headed For Divorce

Next season, The Simpsons is really shaking things up. We’ve already heard the Treehouse of Horror episode will give Sideshow Bob his ultimate wish and now " producer Al Jean says Homer and Marge Simpson, the main characters of the long-running animated series, will "legally separate" in the upcoming season premiere in September.
Al Jean told Variety, “In the premiere, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage. Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham. We’ll have cameos from the other women from Girls.”
This is not the first time Homer and Marge will have separated. In season eight’s "A Milhouse Divided", Homer briefly filed for divorce so that he could re-marry her with a proper ceremony. Ironically, 12 seasons later in "Wedding for Disaster," it’s revealed that their second marriage was invalid due to a technicality involving Reverend Lovejoy’s ministerial certification. They do end up getting re-married officially.
The new season begins on September 27.
