Ranked among one of the biggest selling Italian brands, Gucci is collaborating with a renowned 80’s and 90’s designer of Harlem, Dapper Dan for a collaborative capsule collection.
The two have decided to work with each other and reconcile their differences, after Gucci was accused of copying one of Dan’s 80’s street wear designs in May 2017. Gucci is helping Dapper Dan to reopen his uptown store, which was closed in the year 1992 for multiple copyright infringement violations. The designer will also be featured in an ad campaign for Gucci’s 2018 men’s tailoring, shot by Glen Luchford. In the ad, the designer is photographed in different Gucci tailored suits in his Harlem neighbourhood, where adults are chilling and children are seen playing.
The capsule collection will be sold as part of Gucci’s 2018 pre-fall range.
