Zayn Malik, 23, pulled out of a major gig he had in Dubai next month citing “extreme anxiety” and claiming that he is not “confident” enough to perform.
When cancelling his concert, Malik wrote a message to: “Dear fans, I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances. I feel I am making progress but I have today acknowledged that I do not feel sufficiently confident to move forward with the planned show in Dubai in October.”
A new report claims that a source told ‘Heat’ magazine that Zayn’s girlfriend Gigi Hadid feels it is her responsibility to take care of Zayn as he deals with his situation and feels like she is the only one that can help him. "Gigi's determined to stand by him and she's convinced herself she's the only one who understands him. She thinks she can save him," the source said.
This is reportedly and issue for the model's family, with the source saying: "When they first met, Zayn was the bigger star. But things have changed - her career is hotter now. Her family are worried being with Zayn could affect her work. They're pleased he makes her happy but they are concerned."
"As far as the Hadids can tell, Zayn mostly seems to want to party all night and lay around all day. He can be a bit of a recluse and he often wants Gigi to stay in with him. She wants to support him, so she'll drop everything if he says he's struggling."
Zayn has dropped out of various scheduled performances, citing his illness as the reason why he still does not feel comfortable performing alone in front of thousands of people. "He will barely commits to any promo time and sales have tanked, too. Big festivals still want him, but after the summer cancellations, the label is worried about him pulling. They understand he has issues and will help him with them, but that can't go on forever," the source said about the singer's career.
