Footcare: Top three remedies

Are you one of those people who are embarrassed to remove your shoes in public due to your cracked heels?  Fret not we are here to help you out. Cracked heels have been one of the major issues that most women face.  Some of the factors that lead to cracked feet are improper diet, dehydration, and wearing wrong footwear.  Medical conditions like diabetes, thyroid will also lead to cracked feet. The oil glands present will slowly disappear and the skin gets dried up.

Although the first thing that comes to our mind the moment we see cracked feet is going to a salon and getting a pedicure done, but knowing that there are a few home remedies for foot care not only saves your money but also the time it takes to go the salon to get it done.

Top three remedies:

  1. Banana: Banana is loaded with Vitamins C, B6 and A, which further helps to keep the skin on the feet hydrated. Banana will also soften cracked feet. The enzymes in the fruit will help get rid of dead skin cells. How to use it: First wash your feet with warm water and dry them using a soft cloth. Then take two to three ripe bananas and put them in the blender until you get a creamy paste. Now take this paste and gently massage onto the soles of your feet. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
  2. Baking soda- Baking soda is an excellent defoliant. It contains anti-inflammatory properties. Baking soda is known to remove dead skin cells and soothes the skin.How to use it: Soak your feet in warm water, which is mixed with about two tablespoons of baking soda. Keep your feet inside for about half an hour. Then scrub your feet with pumice stone and finally rinse with water.
  3. Honey - Honey contains soothing properties that further strengthen the skin on the feet. It has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, hence it is used as a foot scrub. How to use it: Take warm water in a bucket and add a cup of raw honey. Then keep your feet inside this mixture and let it soak for 20 minutes. Then clean with water and take a cloth and dry it. Repeat this process everyday for about 10 minutes.
