When did you realise you wanted to pursue a career as a fashion designer?
Dressing up is art. And from childhood, I’ve always had an eye for personality and style. I admire ladies who dress well and maintain their elegance. At the same time, I’m upfront about the things that do not appeal to me in terms of fashion. I did not even realise how and when this admiration became my passion and profession!
What’s your favourite part about being a designer?
Every person is different and has a very individualistic sense of style. I enjoy dressing women accordingly and try to make them feel more confident, attractive, and beautiful.
How do you want women to feel when wearing your collection?
Nothing is worse than being at an event and constantly adjusting yourself or looking in the mirror for reassurance. I want my clients to feel comfortable and admired in my collection.
What are your upcoming collections/projects?
Presently, we are working on spring-summer and bridal wear 2019.
Is sustainability possible in the world of fashion?
In today’s world, where fast-fashion is at its peak, it’s difficult to say whether eco-fashion will work or not. Although style is supreme in the world of fashion, you should factor in that fashion is the world’s second-largest polluter after oil. As soon as this is recognised, the focus can be brought to sustainability.
Who do you feel are the most stylish women today?
To me, every woman who knows how to carry herself and has her own sense of choice is stylish.
A critical fashion mistake to avoid?
I don’t follow fashion blindly. Yes, trends keep on changing, and people believe that you should keep up. But it’s equally important to remember your own personality, your body type, and confidence level, and then dress accordingly! --- as told to Sumana
