End Of An Era: Tributes For Former President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam On Twitter

Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, the 'missile man' who came to be known as 'People's President' died on Monday after he collapsed during a lecture at the IIM in Shillong on Monday evening.

“As a president, his life, his work and everything about him continues to show the way for India. His life-long efforts to deploy scientific intellect in making India powerful is truly the nation’s wealth,”  Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a televised address. “He used to say teaching was his passion, and he spent his last moments among the students doing what he loved most.”

After the tragic incident of 83-year-old Kalam’s death , who was president from 2002 to 2007, tributes for the former president poured in on Twitter as the entire nation, saddened by his death, went into mourning and eminent people, from politicians to actors, expressed their grief.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi @narendramodi expressed grief on the death of the former president. “India mourns the loss of a great scientist, a wonderful President & above all an inspiring individual. RIP Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Dr. Kalam…my mind is filled with so many memories, so many interactions with him. Always marvelled at his intellect, learnt so much from him. Dr. Kalam enjoyed being with people; people & youngsters adored him. He loved students & spent his final moments among them.”
