Fox Stage Productions has announced that a musical adaptation of movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is Broadway-bound.
Producer Kevin McCollum announced Thursday that Elton John and Paul Rudnick have signed on to pen a stage musical based on its 2006 blockbuster comedy ‘The Devil Wears Prada’.
"Reimagining 'The Devil Wears Prada' for the musical theatre is super exciting," John said in a statement. "I'm a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can't wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture," the English musician said.
Elton has Broadway experience with ‘The Lion King’ and he won a Tony Award for ‘Aida’ back in 2000.
The new musical will be produced by McCollum, Fox Stage Productions and Rocket Entertainment. It's part of a big new push by movie studios to adapt films for the stage, including ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’.
No production dates or casting has been announced.
