Deepika Padukone’s MET Gala look took the internet by a storm this morning thanks to her wild hair and exaggerated make up. Deepika who played it safe at the previous two MET gala’s really upped her game this time with her look as the camp barbie. Styled by Shaleena Nathani, Deepika slayed the red carpet in a dramatic Zac Posen gown and accessorized herself with stunning jewellery from Lorraine Schwartz.
We also loved how celebrity make-up artist Sandhya Shekar gave a cat-eye effect using purple eyeshadow that was beautifully complemented with burgundy lipstick. But what really caught our eye is the dramatic ponytail styled by celebrity hairstylist Gabriel Georgiou.
The MET Gala is an annual fundraiser held at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for the benefit of the museum’s Costume Institute. This year, the theme is based on an essay by Susan Sontag’s, ‘Notes on Camp’. In her essay, ‘camp’ is defined as: ‘The essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.’ Hence, the theme is called ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’.
This is Deepika’s third consecutive appearance at the MET and this Bollywood diva has managed to stump us with her looks year after year. We wonder what Mrs. DP and team have in store for us next year!
