Bella Thorne, who grew popular at a young age because of her role in Disney’s Shake It Up, has revealed that she was left with just $200 by the time she turned 18. When asked by the Los Angeles Times newspaper where exactly her money went, she replied with a simple, “You know where it went.”
The publication implied that the situation could be connected with the Coogan law, which states that employers have the right to withhold 15 percent of a minor’s gross wages, which prevents income from going entirely to the child actor’s guardians. She recalls always knowing that there was something “not right” about the whole ordeal, even though she did not expect it, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk. She stated, "I didn't think things were going to go down like that. And then half of me is like, 'Come on, Bella. Look at your whole life. Don't be naive. You knew somewhere deep down inside things were not right.' "
The I Still See You actress talked about her use of marijuana to deal with intense emotions, even though she used to “be super against the devil’s lettuce.”
She said: "I used to be super, super against weed. When I was 16, my boyfriend smoked weed and I would get so upset. I thought it was the devil's lettuce. I was always the really goody two-shoes -- the one that was the teacher's pet in that annoying sense." He actress then asked her brother for the herb so that it would help her sleep as she had gotten too emotionally involved in one of the roles she had taken up at the time and she couldn’t stop crying. The experience changed her opinion.
