Amazonian heels hark back to Achilles

With Affleck and Cavill’s Caped Crusader vs Man of Steel’s record-shattering $420 million opening weekend global gross, the fans are left wanting more (though that has not been the scenario with critics- with 29 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes). And at this point DC has done just the right thing and has started erecting the hype tower for installment of Wonder Women starring Gal Gadot, ahead of Justice League Part1.

A new set of photos have emerged online from the sets of Wonder Woman. The photos signify an iconic comic book moment when Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) meets her earthly love Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) after his plane crashes in the Island of Themyscira.

The movie production has been using exotic islands off the coasts of Italy (as well as southern China) to “enhance the other worldliness of scenes filmed on Italy’s Amalfi Coast,” according to a report in Entertainment Weekly.

Warner Bros. had also unveiled a photo from the solo Wonder Woman movie, which also featured a first official look at the characters Hippolyta, Antiope and Menalippe.

According to Entertainment Weekly's report, Wonder Woman's immortal mother and aunts are raising and training Diana, but they don't always agree. “She is the only child they raised together,” said director Patty Jenkins. “And their love for her manifests in a different way for each of them.”

On the subject of the characters' clothing, Jenkins said to EW, "To me, they shouldn’t be dressed in armor like men... It should be different. It should be authentic and real—and appealing to women." On the other hand, the Amazonians sporting heels have also drawn flak from fans, calling it DC’s undoing.

Wonder Woman opens June 23, 2017.
