Amazon Takes On Black Friday With 'Prime Day'

For Amazon Prime members, Christmas and Black Friday is coming a few months early this year.

To celebrate its 20th birthday, Amazon is promising huge sales on electronics, toys, home goods and hundreds of other items across different categories on July 15.
“Step Aside Black Friday – Meet Prime Day,” the company said in a news release. Amazon explains:         
“Amazon Prime Day is a global shopping event, offering more deals than Black Friday, exclusively for Prime members. On Wednesday, July 15 new and existing members will be able to shop thousands of Lightning Deals, Deals of the Day, and will receive unlimited Free Two-Day Shipping. Members will find deals starting at midnight PDT, with new deals starting throughout the day, as often as every ten minutes.”
The one-day shopping event is exclusively for Prime members.The savings begin at midnight, “with new deals starting as often as every 10 minutes.”
An annual $99 Prime membership gives customersunlimited Free Two-Day shipping on select items, and access to Instant Video streaming service and Prime Music.
For those who don’t have a Prime membership, Amazon is offering customers a 30-day free trial.
In addition to the sale, Amazon is holding a sweepstakes for its Prime customers. Just play any Prime Music song, playlist, album or station on July 15 and you’ll be entered to win a $25,000 Amazon gift card as well as smaller gift cards prizes.
