Actor Ali Fazal has been gearing up to play the character Guddu Pandit in his upcoming series Mirzapur. How exactly is the weird part. He has been “chilling” at gun stores in Banaras to get into character. The actor, who has earlier been seen in mostly the sweet boy-next-door type of characters, has now taken on the role of a deadly avatar for the Amazon Prime Video Original and Excel Entertainment’s crime-thriller show. Guddu Pandit is extremely dangerous, shooting people down without a thought, and for Ali to play such a role, he has to adapt the mannerisms and style, as well as the mentality, to fulfill the role. Ali has been exploring local places in Banaras in a bid to familiarize himself with Guddu. He talked about the experience in a statement, saying, "The one thing that helped me to prep for the character was chilling at gun shops in Banaras. There are many shops in Banaras, like there are more gun shops than general stores there. The best conversations happen right outside the gun shops, inside you have no work."
The show is explained as being very raw, showcasing a lawless land where the only rules that are imposed are the ones made by Kaleen Bhaiya, played by Pankaj Tripathi. The trailer tells the story of two brothers who are lured into a world of destruction by their thirst for power and all that comes with it. The cast consists of Vikrant Massey, Divyendu Sharma, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur and Amit Sial. The show is being helmed by Gurmeet Singh and is created by Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna. It start streaming from Friday onwards.
