Actress Tanishaa Mukerji Decodes Her Flair For Fitness

With fitness as her passion, it is little wonder that working out and following a diet regime is a way of life for actress Tanisha Mukerji. In a conversation with You & I, the actress decodes her flair for fitness for us…

Compared with how fit you've been during different points in your life, where are you now?
Fitness for me is just being healthy, energetic and being able to do what you want to do physically.

So what's your normal workout like?
I work out at least one hour a day. I do one hour of either yoga, running or walking.

What about when you don't feel like exercising?
As far as working out comes in question I love it. It feels that I am actually spending quality time with myself. Working out helps me refresh and rejuvenate my mind too. I would do it even if I was not an actress. I don’t need any motivation to work out. My hunch towards fitness is unshaken which acts as an ignition to be persistent. At times, I get exhausted due to my hectic schedule (which is quite obvious in the industry), so a push is required to get on with the fitness regimes. And there has been no such phase where I don’t feel like working out.

What does your diet consist of?
Basic Indian diet of dal, sabzi and chicken on a regular basis. I love eating home food that’s the best thing. I don’t eat out much. I avoid fried food and processed food.
What’s the one fitness mantra you swear by?
Fitness for me is a life style choice. You just have to decide for yourself that your health and your body is important to you. Today nothing is more valuable to a person than their health, so if you care about yourself you will keep fit. Being healthy and fit means able to do everything that I want to because this body is a gift and I want to be able to never take it for granted.

What are the daily rituals that keep you in glowing health, inside and out?
I drink plenty of water, your body is 80% liquids so you have to supplement that especially if you want your skin to look good and want to stay healthy. I take very good care of my skin, get rid of makeup before I sleep, and my diet includes nutritious and fiber rich food.
