Birla Mandir

The Birla Mandir is a temple dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara built by the Birla Foundation. Located on a hilltop called Kala Pahad, it was built with white marble stones from Rajasthan and displays a mixture of architectural styles from North and South India. The temple, when illuminated, presents a spectacular sight. The panoramic view of the city from the top of the temple is simply breathtaking!

Charminar

An important city landmark, the Charminar is considered the signature of Hyderabad. Built in 1591, it has four soaring minarets and presents architectural splendour both inside and outside. The surrounding narrow gullies house the famous ‘Lad Bazaar’, which bustles with shops selling bangles, pearls and an array of perfumes.

Chowmohalla Palace

Built in 1780, the Chowmohalla Palace complex comprises four palaces in both Moghul and European styles. It was from here that the Asaf Jahis ruled the State. Later it became the official residence of the Nizams, where many banquets and receptions for visiting dignitaries were held. Among the treasures within are a 250-year-old clock, 19 spectacular chandeliers made of Belgian crystal, and numerous old manuscripts and books.

Mecca Masjid
 
Located a stone’s throw from the Charminar, it took more than 80 years to build this mosque, which is the largest in the Twin Cities, accommodating about 10,000 people at prayer time. The central arch of the mosque comprises bricks brought from Mecca, hence the name. Its huge columns and stately arches were built using single slabs of granite.

Ramoji Film City

This 2,000-acre dream world was created for cinema shootings and remains a popular tourist attraction. Owned by entrepreneur-cum-film producer Ramoji Rao, RFC is known for its amazing sets, including an airport, a hospital, a replica of the Hawa Mahal, a Japanese garden and artificial waterfalls.

Golconda Fort

It is here that the erstwhile rulers of the entire Qutb Shahi dynasty were laid to rest. Situated not far from Golconda Fort, the tombs were built in Persian, Pathan and Hindu architectural styles. The large domes, minarets, terraces and arches present a wonderful sight, and are visible for miles around.
