Renowned Italian fashion designer and creative director of Gucci, Alessandro Michele showcased his exquisite Spring/Summer 2018 collection at the Gucci Hub in Milan on September 20th, 2017.
Alessandro Michele is known for his memorable runway set designs, which often reflect on what fashion means today. The set for his new fashion show was inspired by the magnificent architectural history that featured 37 structures including various statues and pillars from different historical times. The whole set was an interpretation of the world map located at the home of the Roman poet Orazio. The set consisted of three arches Indian, Egyptian and Aztec, along with the existence of urban elements such as streetlights.
Models walked through the three arches wearing vintage clothing inspired by the 80’s, with gold embroidered capes, sequinned jackets with shoulder pads, shell suit, and bum bags. The menswear line offered shorts paired with ties and blazers. The outfits were accessorised with Stormtrooper-esque skull caps, crystal encrusted sunglasses, glittery hair slides and tiaras worn as necklaces.
